| Computer Section plays a vital
role in information system of BPKIHS.It has its own VSAT
(Very Small Aperture Terminal) to establish internet
connectivity through JCSAT (Satellite) via BTN Access-Hongkong
with a bandwidth of 128/384 kbps (transmit/receive) and is
connected to the local Area Network (LAN) system of BPKIHS
connecting almost all the departments and sections into a
single network. The main aim of VSAT connectivity is to
provide internet connectivity to all the departments and
sections to fulfill the requirement of teaching-learning and
research purpose of the Institute. Internet connection has
been distributed in the residences of faculties and staff
also. The Local Area Network System has been elaborated to
all the departments and sections to provide information
sharing (i.e. data or file and print sharing), to implement
hospital software related to Patient care and information
e.g. Registration, Billing, Clinical Lab, Radiology, Wards,
OPD as well as Finance, Store Inventory, Personnel,
Academics, Examination, Library, Maintenance & engineering,
etc. |
| Activities |
- Hospital Software has been installed and implemented
in the entire Billing and Registration Counters as well
as Insurance counter, Finance, Store Inventory and
Library Information System.
- The computer section of BPKIHS provides Internet
facility to all the departments/sections/residential
quarters through its Local Area Network and Dialup
ROUTER.
- Every departments/sections has a computer set, UPS
and printer with a computer clerk to facilitate their
usage.
- Updating of BPKIHS Web Page (www.bpkihs.edu) is done
regularly as per need.
- The computer section is providing hardware and
software maintenance of computer and its accessories to
all the departments/sections.
- Recently 10 computers and 1 Server has been
installed in the Central Library with internet
connectivity to provide abstract, articles, journals and
literature search facility to all the undergraduate,
postgraduate students and faculty members.
- The computer section of BPKIHS has been providing
free online access to more than 2000 Medical Journals,
with full text through HINARI, WHO which can be
downloaded.

| Plan of Action |
- Extension of Local Area Network in all the Wards,
OPDs, Investigative blocks (e.g. Radiology, CLS, ECG,
EEG, ECHO, Endoscopy, etc.) to implement Hospital
Software as well as Residential area of Campus to
provide internet facility to the faculty and staff of
the Institute.
- Installation of Telemedicine through Wide Area
Network connectivity to the Teaching District Hospitals
at Dhankuta, Rangeli and Inaruwa and BPKIHS as a Center
of Telemedicine. Facilitating Telemedicine and Video
Conferencing facility.
- Extension of LAN in the Offices and College of
Dental Surgery.
- Implementation of Hospital Management Software in
CLS, Radiology, other investigative blocks, Wards, OPDs,
Academic, Examination, Maintenance and Engineering.
- Organizing regular training on "Fundamental skills
of computer (Windows, Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint
and Internet Email)" to all the Faculties, Paramedical,
Nursing and other staff of BPKIHS - to implement
Hospital Information System (Software).
